The Gamekids Maui cast will perform the award-winning musical, Willy Wonka Jr., at ‘Iao Theater in Wailuku on Saturday and Sunday, May 17 and 18. The thirty children performers in this musical, members of the Maui production cast of Gamekids, range in age from 8 through 13. The musical is directed by Steven Dascoulias, artist-in-residence at Waihe‘e Elementary School, who recently starred in Maui OnStage’s King and I.

“We’re really excited to bring this great family show to the Maui community,” said Gameskids Executive Producer/Director Kahu Rennie Mau. “This is a total children’s production… the children also drew all the sets, and award-winning multimedia artist Hai Dai Nguyen created the backgrounds and sets with their artwork. Steven Dascoulias is one of the most creative and talented directors we have worked with and its just amazing how he works with the children.”

Gamekids is a weekly TV show that ran for several years on an Oceanic Time Warner local network. The show is presently being revamped for Edgy Lee’s new PacificNetwork.TV, which will broadcast worldwide via IVTP.

Willy Wonka Jr. is part of Music Theatre International Broadway Junior series and is produced by Gamekids in conjunction with Maui OnStage. Show times on Saturday are 4 and 7 p.m., and on Sunday at 2 and 5 p.m.
