Sesame Street

Elmo is Ready for Action on Maui!

Sesame Street Live is coming to Maui for the first time ever, and fans of Elmo, Grover, Big Bird or any of the characters from the PBS educational television show can rejoice—whether you’re a toddler, someone who grew up knowing the Sesame Street pals, or anyone who’s just a kid at heart! Come discover what it takes to get your inner hero Ready For Action when this incredible VEE Corporation production zooms into Maui with Sesame Street Live “Elmo! Ready for Action” at Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater for six shows only; Friday, June 27 through Sunday, June 29.

This all-new Sesame Street Live show features an array of popular songs, many of them renditions of tunes that parents will remember and kids will love including Old MacDonald, Splish Splash, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and Sunny Days.

Like television’s Sesame Street, the stage production features timeless lessons for all ages. “Elmo! Ready for Action!” focuses on developing healthy habits in exercise, nutrition, sleep, energy and hygiene through song and dance, all in the quest to get the “super” back into Super Grover. With the razzle-dazzle of a full-blown Broadway-quality show, the production will teach children healthy habits that they can use long after the show ends… and adults in the audience will appreciate the universal appeal of cleverly written scripts and the high-tech stagecraft.

Sesame Street premiered in November 1969 on public television, breaking new ground by combining fun and laughter with good old-fashioned learning. Today the program is a global force—touching the lives of children in more than 120 countries. Sesame Street has the largest audience worldwide of any children’s television program, and has won 115 Emmy Awards, more than any other program in television history. The program has also had a profound effect on early childhood education; according to studies in the U.S., frequent viewers of Sesame Street at age two were found to have an advantage in math, vocabulary and school-readiness by age five.

Oscar the Grouch and “The Count” are counting on you to be in the audience! Show times are Friday at 7 p.m.; Saturday at 10:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.; Sunday at 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tickets are available now… and going fast! Call The MACC Box Office at 242-SHOW (7469) for tickets or purchase them online at www.mauiarts.org. As a special treat, there will be a Keiki Fun Fest starting at noon on Saturday and Sunday on the lawn between the daytime shows, with bouncy castles, toddler games and other fun activities and kid food! Elmo says to come out and play!
