Steel Pulse

‘The greatest reggae band on the planet’ comes to The MACC.

The U.K’s Grammy-winning reggae band Steel Pulse is coming to the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s A&B Amphitheater this weekend! The show starts at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23; amphitheater gates open at 5 p.m. Presented by BAMP Project, Steel Pulse has explored many styles of music since 1975, but they have always remained close to their roots with a commitment to fighting injustice and promoting positive messages through uplifting music.

The band received a Grammy Award for their 1986 classic, Babylon The Bandit, and was nominated for subsequent albums Victims (1991) and Rastafari Centennial (1992). They are also known for such hits as Prodigal Son, Soldiers, Not King James Version, Stepping Out and Chant a Psalm… plus so many more! Dubbed as, “The greatest reggae band on the planet,” Steel Pulse is known for their marathon sets and raw, heartfelt performances. The Maui concert is sure to be an amazing experience!

General admission tickets for Steel Pulse are $35 in advance and $40 day of show plus applicable fees. Advance tickets are available through Friday, Aug. 22, at The MACC Box Office (Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.). To charge by phone, call 242-SHOW (7469) or buy online at www.mauiarts.org. Tickets are also available at Premiere Video & Music in Kihei, Old Lahaina Book Emporium in Lahaina and Request Music in Wailuku.

Amphitheater concert guidelines: Parking will be available for $5 (cash only) in the MCC parking lots. Gates for the amphitheater will open at 5 p.m., at which time food, beverages, desserts and snacks will be available. On the menu for the evening is a variety of dinner choices. Beverages including water, soda, beer and wine will be available. (A current valid photo ID will be required for everyone purchasing alcohol. The ID must be shown prior to entry. No in-and-out entry will be allowed in the concert grounds.) Amphitheater food and beverage purchases will be conducted with scrip only; cash only is accepted for purchase of scrip at the onsite scrip booths and there is an ATM onsite.) In the interest of public safety, no chairs, strollers, umbrellas, large backpacks/bags, coolers, outside food or drink will be allowed into the amphitheater. Also, no cameras, videocams, or other photo/recording devices are permitted.
