The MauiFEST Hawai‘i Film festival series continues with the 6th annual Hana Film Festival on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 4 to 11 p.m. at the beautiful Hana Bay. The festival is a celebration of Hawaiian music, arts and crafts, and culture and film, presented free of charge for the families of Maui and our visitors.
‘Ohana Makamae, Hana Youth Center and Hale Hulu Mamo (Hana’s senior center) will raise fund through sales of their ono grinds: seared ahi on garlic bread, teriyaki grilled mahi mahi, shoyu chicken, tossed green salad with papaya seed dressing—and for desert, fried bread with apple pie filling and Roselani vanilla ice cream.
Blues legend and award winner Paul Oscher will perform for the first time in Hawai‘i! Oscher played with Blues Master Muddy Waters and recorded with Eric Clapton and Keith Richards.
Also performing are Na Hoku Hanohano award winner Brother Noland, Hawai‘i Music and Grammy winner Slack Key Master Sonny Lim from the Island of Hawai‘i, Maui Superman Uncle Boy Kanae, with Hawaiian chant Polynesian song and dance by Hana’s own Hula Halau. All Films selected will be awarded the MauiFEST Hawai‘i Aloha Visionary Filmmaker Award 2008.
