Soroptimist club event to benefit women and girls.

Soroptimist International of Maui will host a fashion show and silent auction to benefit women and girls in the local community and around the world, on Saturday, April 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Pa‘ina Building at the Maui Community College (MCC) Culinary Academy in Kahului.

Fashions from Maui Clothing Company Stores will be modeled by a variety of men and women from the community. There will also be a silent auction featuring many generous donations from community supporters, as well as stunning artwork by children from the Women Helping Women shelter.

A buffet lunch and dessert will be provided by the MCC Culinary Academy. Tickets are $40 per person and can be purchased by calling Nancy from the Soroptimist International of Maui Club at 242-0047.

Soroptimist International of Maui is part of Soroptimist International of the Americas, a volunteer service organization of business and professional women. Soroptimist International, with organizations in 119 countries and territories, contributes time and financial support to projects that improve the lives of women and girls in the local community and around the world.

Some of these projects and awards include but are not limited to: Sharon Okamura nursing student scholarships, Women’s Opportunity Awards, Youth Citizenship Awards, Violet Richardson for Youth Awards, the Women Helping Women Art of Hope Project and the Baby Think It Over Project.
