Jill Engledow and Arnie Kotler of the Maui Book Publishers Association will describe “How Books Get Published” at the MCBRC on Wednesday, Aug. 13, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Kotler, who founded Koa Books in 2005, has been an editor and publisher for more than 20 years. Recent Koa Books titles include Words of Wisdom, by Lama Surya Das; Dissent: Voices of Conscience, coauthored by Colonel (Ret.) Ann Wright and UH-Manoa lecturer Susan Dixon; and Veterans of War, Veterans of Peace, edited by Maxine Hong Kingston. Engledow, a longtime Maui journalist and writer, founded Maui Island Press in 2005 to publish her books Maui 101: Your Guide to Island Life and Island Life 101: A Newcomer’s Guide to Hawai‘i.
