Hawaiian Airlines cancels route

As of Sept. 1, Hawaiian Airlines passengers seeking direct flights to San Diego from Maui are out of luck. The airline will cancel its daily San Diego to Maui route, in order to “free up aircraft time” to maintain Hawaiian Airlines’ Oakland-Honolulu route, according to a company spokesperson. The San Diego-Kahului flights began service in 2006 and closed temporarily last year, due a lack of additional aircraft. The daily route between San Diego and Honolulu will still be available and offers connecting options to Maui.
