United Airlines announced Tuesday, Sept. 16, that it will double its current $25 fee for a second checked bag to $50 for domestic travel booked on or after Sept. 16, for travel on or after Nov. 10. United already charges $15 for the first checked bag. Exempt customers include United Business, United First Class, frequent-flyer passengers and active-duty military personnel traveling on orders.
