Maui firefighters receive communication grant

Maui Fire Department firefighters are thankful for a recent grant of over $14,000 to install a satellite communications system. John H. Connors Insurance and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company gave the money to the department to buy a special mobile satellite unit to be installed in one of its emergency command vehicles. This system will allow fire-fighters to feed video from a scene, so fire officials can “view firsthand the event.” Since 2004, the Fireman’s Fund has continually helped more than 1,100 fire departments across the nation with grants totaling more than $20 million. The John H. Connor’s firm represents a majority of the insurance carries that do business in Hawai‘i.
