Gardeners and farmers are asked to contribute fresh produce. We enjoyed the Maui Garden Club article in the July 17–23 issue of the Maui Weekly. Gary Mohrland’s sentiments that, “Growing green is about love—a coming together with the environment to make things right,” resonated with us.
Part of making things right is also making sure that the Maui Food Bank has enough fresh produce to feed the increasing number of hungry families on Maui.
We invite your readers to visit www.mauigrowingtogether.blogspot.com, and join an emerging network of people who are coming together to help grow food for the Maui Food Bank. Family gardens can plant an extra row. Landowners can let volunteers come and plant a garden. Small farmers can share their harvests and become part of a pickup and distribution system being built by the Maui Food Bank.
We have abundant crops in our backyards, neighborhood gardens and some truck farms, which can help feed our hungry with wholesome produce.
All your readers have to do is sign up to volunteer to participate in this worthy project.
