What does he have to offer?Democrats really should admit that Republicans have a strong point about the lack of Obama’s experience compared to Bush, Cheney, McCain and even Sarah Palin. The record is fairly clear: Obama seems completely incapable of lying the country into an unneeded, bankrupting war. He is a babe in the woods when it comes to violating his oath of office to favor fat-cat lobbyists. His history shows him to be utterly unable to squash his compassion in support of healthcare denial, lack of opportunity, poor education, lousy and underpaid working conditions, or credit fleecing of the average citizen.
He has absolutely no personal record of bombing villages and cities in a country halfway around the world from us that was fighting for independence from a century of racist colonial domination.
When has he ever proudly shown off his skill at killing dwindling animal species, or promised pipelines and energy wells in a last real wilderness—because God wants it? When has he told schoolchildren to support the Iraq war because God wants it?
What can Obama point to, besides his experience of being a decent human being who can inspire millions to believe that together we can make a better world?
Beyond describing plans and ideas that unify all kinds of people, energizing them into working to make it happen—what has he got to offer? The guy probably doesn’t even have an enemies list, and he shows no skill or inclination for character assassination. No comparison to the competition.
