Gov. Linda Lingle recently proclaimed May as Mental Health Awareness Month. “Mental healthcare isn’t just an issue, it is about people,” Gov. Lingle said. At the proclamation ceremony, Gov. Lingle highlighted the Mental Health Transformation Working Group’s progress toward implementing a comprehensive plan to improve mental healthcare across the state. These and other efforts have yielded positive results, with Hawai‘i improving its ranking to 11th in the nation, up from 51st in 1990.
