Seaweed “super sucker” saves the day. Mayor Charmaine Tavares and Maui County Environmental Coordinator Kuhea Paracuelles discuss the benefits of the seaweed removal method being tested along the shores at Waipu‘ilani Beach Park in Kihei on Thursday, July 17. The demonstration was part of the ongoing “Invasive Algae Removal Feasibility Study” conducted by UH, the state and Maui County. The algae was transported to local farms and the Maui Nui Botanical Garden to benefit their compost.
