A client weighs in on Maui’s newest health spa.It sounded like a dream come true. I’ve battled with weight gain my entire life and have tried every method known to man, or woman for that matter, to appear slim and trim. My latest “battle of the bulge” has consisted of a healthier diet (most of the time) and two weekly sessions with a trainer at my local gym. Slowly but surely my sluggish metabolism has kicked into gear, resulting in slow—but mostly steady—weight loss. Yet, when I look in the mirror, my dimpled thighs and ample rear don’t appear to be diminishing rapidly en-ough!
So, needless to say, I was thrilled when I was asked to visit A Slender You Maui in Kahului. Like all first time clients, I sat down for a consultation with the Tamoris to discuss my goals and expectations. While visible results are obtained from just one wrap, it is necessary to do a series of wraps to achieve lasting results. Several programs are available, with most starting with one or two wraps a week, followed by a monthly maintenance plan. I started with a 30-minute ionic foot detox. This gentle process is designed to draw toxins from the body and boost the immune system. After the detox, I followed Joan to the changing room where I was weighed and measured. Measurements were taken of my upper and lower arms, chest, waist, hips, thighs and calves. These figures would be compared to measurements taken following the wrap. I was then led to another room where I was wrapped from head to toe in porous elastic bandages soaked in a non-dehydrating, all-natural mineral liquid. The wrap was snug, but not constricting.
When Joan was finished, I looked like an extra in The Mummy Returns. I was then encouraged to move about, and even do mild exercises, during the 60-minute session. I was told mild exercise would improve circulation and allow quicker absorption of nutrients.
When the wrap came off, I felt refreshed and was pleased to see that I had actually lost nine and a half inches overall. Needless to say, I was now looking forward to the next wrap scheduled for a week later.
On my next visit I had a Power Wrap. The certified wrapping technique was the same, but the solution was a bit different. Again, the minerals were reapplied during the 60-minute session, which seemed to go by much more quickly this time. When I was unwrapped and re-measured, I saw an even greater loss; 12-and-a-half inches total! I felt great and gained an added incentive to stick to my diet and exercise plan. Best of all, when I returned home, my husband even remarked that my skin looked tighter and more toned.
