On Saturday, Aug. 23, crowds gathered at Big Beach in Makena to watch more than 30 talented men and women compete in the 1st Annual Save Makena Skim Board and Body Board Competition presented by Maui Tomorrow and the Surfrider Foundation. The event raised funds for Save Makena’s educational programs and the Makena-Pu‘u Olai State Park restoration and beautification projects. For more information, visit www.savemakena.org.
