I just watched the local news and saw a new dog park in Hawai‘i Kai that was once an overgrown area. It was created by private funding, I think I heard. It reminded me of a letter a couple of weeks ago, suggesting that the County of Maui create a dog park for dog owners so they can let their dogs run loose. To the writer I say, “Eh, bra, no can la dat.”
It reminded me of a hotel manager in Ka‘anapali a few years ago who whined about the county helping with the erosion on the beach because they were losing their property line. To him, I wished I had said, “Eh, bra, no can la dat.” The county, in my humble opinion, is trusted with keeping up the share of the infrastructure with which they are charged. Certainly, they are not responsible for creating a dog park for dog owners.
However, I may like the idea of a dog park. I would be the first to say, “let the pit bulls with bad owners in? Eh, bra, no can la dat.” Owners of the good dogs would have to carry guns and, “eh, bra, no can la dat.” You know what I mean!
