Invasive species are a very real threat. Our state has spent millions of dollars trying to eradicate invasive species, usually with little success. The Superferry has made it so much easier to transport cars, furniture, etc. This is an opportunity that we must take advantage of to educate the public about the importance of vigilance. Set the example, sterilize cars going through, have an educational video before sailing about how to reduce risk of spreading invasive species and the importance of responsible fishing and gathering practices so there is bright future for the next generations of keiki to enjoy. Airports have agriculture inspections and harbors need them as well, and not just for the Superferry, Matson, etc. This could also create jobs.
