To the person who fled from the scene of the accident which took place at about 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, on Ka‘ahumanu Ave. right by the shopping mall: You slammed into the side of my husband’s Kia station wagon with your huge black pick-up truck. Thankfully, he was not injured, but the car now has extensive damage. We are hoping that someone managed to get your license plate number as you sped away and will turn it in to the police. Otherwise, we will have to make a claim with our own insurance company, pay the deductible, and very likely incur a rate increase—all because of your irresponsible, selfish and ignorant behavior!
What’s all this talk about “pono” and “kuleana”? You certainly displayed anything but that. I hope and pray that your conscience burns a hole through you until you own up to what you did and make restitution. Were you drinking? Did you not have insurance coverage on that monstrosity you were driving? It doesn’t really matter, because you have only compounded your illegal behavior now. It will catch up with you one day. My husband was on his way home from his second job (he works very hard to take care of his family) when you did this to him!
To anyone who may have witnessed this accident and/or got the license number of this criminal, please help us out and call the police. Whoever this was is obviously very dangerous to others, and needs to be banned from the roadways before someone ends up killed.
