Dr. Sharon “Shay” Bintliff will hold her Soular Energy book signing at noon on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Borders Books & Music at Maui Marketplace in Kahului. All proceeds from book sales will go to Camp Anuenue on O‘ahu, a summer camp for children with cancer. Bintliff, an emergency room physician, dedicated her book of poems to her granddaughter, Ileiana, who died in October 2005 after a four-year battle with cancer. Her quest in publishing this book is “to express the depths and sensitivities of the human soul, and hope that you also experience them as you read these poems.” Lee Cataluna said her poems are “disarming in their honesty, steadfast in truth, brave and fierce and kind. They serve as a powerful reminder that the best of the human spirit can survive and thrive, even after heartbreak and loss.”
