On Saturday, Oct. 11, and the second Saturday of every month, a composting class will be held at the MOA Center, 164 Kamehameha Ave. in Kahului from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
A large percentage of what is sent to the landfill is organic material that can be made into compost. But yard trimmings and kitchen scraps are valuable resources that can easily be reused in your own backyard by composting.
Those who would like to compost, but don’t have a garden, can compost junk mail and food scraps to worms. Red wiggler composting worms can make the richest compost possible.
Call Wilma Nakamura at 573-3911 to register for a workshop. Earth Machine composters are available for $49 to workshop participants.
The workshop is sponsored by a County of Maui Recycling Grant.
