The Weekly Dish May 6 edition
May 6, 2011 - Trisha Smith
Miss the Dish this morn? Tune in here!
Aloha Friday everyone! This morning's episode of THE WEEKLY DISH was fun and informative as usual, and decorated with clever commentary, fresh news & views from the MAUI WEEKLY, along with some sweetheart special guests, Maui songbird SEBRINA BARRON and music mama/talented journalist SUZANNE KAYIAN. They stopped by to chat about their upcoming Mother's Day show and Women Helping Women benefit with Gail Swanson and Elaine Ryan at STELLA BLUES.
Mr. Groovy (Shawn Michael) and I welcomed two new supporters today from South Maui: KIHEI AUTOMOTIVE and WHO CUT THE CHEESE. E komo mai!!
Eric A. from the auto shop reveals useful mechanic tips and car care advice twice monthly in THE WEEKLY DISH's "Auto Talk" segment. He'll rotate weekly with Mike from CLASSIC CRUISERS for some cool "Auto Talk," where Mr. Waggoner keeps us stylin' with vehicle accessories, window tinting and more at his shop located in the Kihei Commercial Plaza.
Also, Ann Tuomela from WHO CUT THE CHEESE delighted us with her savvy demeanor and delicious descriptions of her quaint European-style shop in the Azeka Mauka Center in Kihei. She will collaborate with STELLA BLUES for a few shows and highlight all the goodness these friends and neighbors have to offer our Maui listeners with sophisticated palettes and that appreciate quality small businesses.
And of course, we enjoyed colorful quips during "Let's Talk More..." with PAUL JANES-BROWN and the "Maui Music Notes" always tunes you into an array of melodic happenings around the isle. We chatted about some stellar bands we know and love, including THE VINCE ESQUIRE BAND and VISIBLY SHAKEN—who will play together tonight, May 6, at Stella's!! I heard the lovely LILY MEOLA will come together with the boys for an epic diddy too. Yesss!
Also at KAOI this morning, we were fortunate enough to enjoy a spectacular live performance from 20-year-old songstress, Sebrina Barron. Chicken skin ensued... Plus, I discovered later that she loves Johnny Cash. I heart her. Haha
Thanks for listening! Keep it real Maui! :-)

Mother's Day @ Stella Blues is a benefit for benevolent Maui nonprofit, Women Helping Women, plus amazing talents such as Gail Swanson, Elaine Ryan and Sebrina Barron are performing, so this is a no-brainer. Be there!
