The Weekly Dish July 8 edition
July 8, 2011 - Trisha Smith
Miss the last broadcast of The Weekly Dish radio show? Dig in right here for a variety of cool views and community news from some of Maui's most vibrant personalities and small businesses.
Although my awesome partner-in-crime Mr. Groovy (bass master Shawn Michael) and I were a bit sleepy, we pulled it together for another fun and informative adventure of the airwaves.
What a great show this AM! So much stellar community news from the Maui Weekly, and we discovered a grip of rad small businesses that rock the isle, as well as enjoyed some colorful commentary among friends.
Paul Janes-Brown graced us with his "Let's Talk More... " theatre & arts segment, and Josh Richardson from 808 Deli "rised and shined" for us to talk story about his fabulous family business in Kïhei.
(Josh is offering a $5 Chicken Pesto Sandwich @ 808 Deli to anyone who mentions me, Trish da Dish, or The Weekly Dish radio show today JULY 8, 2011. It's onolicious! Get down there!) Mike Waggoner of Classic Cruisers speed into our "Auto Talk" section for a lively and informative presentation of all-things vehicular, such as window-tinting deals, car accessories and so much more. Happy belated spankings to 4th of July b-day boy, Mike! Not only is he one the show's grandest supporters, but he is also adored by us for his amazing hairdo and contagious chuckles. :-)
The silly and sexy princess of improv, Miss Amanda Taulere of the Comedy Hui, joined us to chat about her special showcase at the Ritz Carlton this Sunday evening. The improv troupe is turning things up with a groovy musical comedy showcase, inviting organic Maui talents such as Les Adams, Kerry Sofaly and Danyel Alana to provide the bumping back beats as Amanda and her clever crew of comedians take to the stage and attempt 1,200 zany acts in one night. (Ok, maybe not THAT many, but it's quite a feat the performers are embarking upon!) The Comedy Hui is offering a killer kama‘äina rate for Sunday's shows too, so call (877) 669-6603 today, and visit www.comedyhui.com to learn more about this rockin' event on Maui's West Side.
Groovy and I enjoyed a vibrant jolt of energy when sassy songstress Lia Live joined us in the studio for a live performance with her harmonious partner, Kai Aiken of The Kryptones, of her new single, "On a One Way." After returning to Hawai‘i following her educational stint in LA, the glamorous roots/reggae performer, Lia Live has been working hard on her budding music career and she's ready to dazzle Three's Surf Lounge tonight @ 10 p.m.! I'm looking forward to watching this rising star shine brightly in the future.
Check out the recent recording at the first link and hear what ya missed! Cruise through all the groovy Websites and more below to learn more about some of our favorite small businesses, and don't be afraid to learn a thing or two about your community within the online pages of the Maui Weekly Website.
And tune in every Friday morning on KAOI 1110AM&96.7FM to The Weekly Dish—a delightful recipe for Maui's community & entertainment news. Keep it real, Maui. Aloha!
Thanks for listening Maui!
