The Weekly Dish August 19

August 19, 2011 - Trisha Smith
Aloha Friday! Catch this rockin' episode of The Weekly Dish here.

This morning's episode of The Weekly Dish on KAOI 1110AM & 96.7FM was yet another fantastic voyage... Thanks for tuning in everyone, and thanks to all my supporters, especially the Maui Weekly and KAOI, for allowing me to jumpstart yet another wonderful weekend in paradise. I couldn't do it without a lil help from fab friends like my co-host, Mr. Groovy Shawn Michael, and endless gratitude goes out to all my special guests and sensational small businesses like 808 Deli, Classic Cruisers, Stella Blues, Mulligan's and many more. Aloha!

We highlighted Maui Weekly's articles on chemtrails and Monsanto, as well as talked story about a great community effort called Slow Food Maui.

Paul Janes-Brown stopped by with his usual flair, and the delightful Ann Taumole from Who Cut the Cheese was bursting with excitement from her big upcoming business move--or as we say "morphtation"--to Guava, Gouda and Caviar. Dig in! Also, don't miss their special wine sale next week, where shoppers can enjoy 30% off some of the finest vinos and don't forget to try the delicious Beet Goes On recipe the Big Cheese Ann crafted.

Three out of the four Owaila plays dragged their fine spirits to the studio for a live interview and performance. It was great to have the guys live in the studio, and I beamed as guitarist Ryan Rego, lead singer/bassist Kanoa, and lead guitarist Chad Kaya delivered us a stellar acoustic "Stars" treat. (We missed you Tavi!) And we also enjoyed a raw version of "Sega," which includes me singing a lil backup as Kanoa fine-tuned his morning pipes. (Don't worry, I'm not attempting to ever sing again on-air... I apologize... hahaha )

We played a sample from new experimental outfit, ARC, on the show this morning as the crafty pair preps for their opening rout this Saturday for MOTHxp at the Hard Rock Cafe'. Going to be an amazing show boys and girls tomorrow night, Aug. 20... DO NOT miss it. For real... I have followed the cultivation of James Bowersox and James Cotton Hartman of MOTH (now MOTHxp) since they burst onto the Maui scene in May 2010, and these guys are exceptional, and special, in many ways... hahaha

For real though, we're fortunate to have such eclectic art and music spectacles showcased across the isle, and such dedicated and skilled musicians that put everything they have into each experience and recording.

Check out all the cool links and photos below, and make sure to cruise the fine pages of the Maui Weekly for some award-winning community news and views.

Mahalo everyone for the support and thanks again for tuning in each Friday from 7-8 a.m on KAOI 1110AM&96.7FM for The Weekly Dish-a delightful recipe for Maui's community and entertainment news. Keep it real. Aloha! :o)
