The Weekly Dish Dec. 9

December 9, 2011 - Trisha Smith
Miss this morning's weekend jumpstart radio show? Dig in here!

Great girlpower morning on THE WEEKLY DISH radio show, aired live every Friday morning from 7 to 8 a.m. on KAOI 1110Am & 96.7Fm. My Groovy co-host Shawn Michael and I always invite an array of intriguing folks into the studio, and this morning was graced with a dose of woman power! (My rad engineer Garry and Groovy didn't seem to mind... ) ;-)

My sista from anotha motha and Groovy's better half, Fasha Jem Puckett, joined the fun in the Wailuku studio, as we delivered the news and views from the Maui Weekly newspaper and highlighted some of the cool community haps taking over the island this weekened and beyond. We covered all the wonderful deals and holiday gift ideas from the 808 Deli, which not only has the best sandwiches on Maui but also offers a decadent selection sweet treats such as the peanut butter cup as big as your hand.

We drove right into the hot deals at Classic Cruisers, including a killa special which could get you up to 20 percent off your window tinting at Mike Waggoner's shop in the Kihei Commercial Plaza. (Learn more at link below.)

Special guest Cindy Eiting was unable to make it live in the studio, but we settled for an exclusive interview with her from her Stella Blues office. This hard-working lady has been a sista in the Stellas family since day one, working for the family restaurant for nearly 19 years. Her "brotha" Kale Boverman and her have manned the tye-dyed venue since founder Ray Ennis' passing a few years ago, and I know that he's looking down now with such pride and love for everything they've done to keep the good spirits, food and vibes flowing.

Cindy was stoked to talk story with us regarding Stella Blues' big 20th anniversary party tonight! So many great deals for $20, including wine and dinner specials, and there's a slew of live music talents that will invade the backroom, beginning at 8 p.m. tonight. Check out the flier below and make sure you bring some aloha tonight to the popular South Maui venue!

The Weekly Dish stoked to welcome a new supporter in Ambrosia Martini Lounge in Kihei Kalama Village, voted Maui's best bar again this year. Owner Candice Seti is one of the isle's most cool and clever businessowners, with a sweet and sassy spirit that keeps the establishment grooving seven days a week and loyal customers that keep coming back for more. Whether its their friendly staff, delicious drink selection, fun movie events, killa Dj nights or fresh theme parties, Ambrosia is the place to be for a good time among good folks. Learn more by listening to today's show and become Ambrosia's friend on Facebook to keep tabs on its great events, including the brand new Ladies '80s parties every monday with DJ Skinny Guy. Cheers!

Our new friends Rachel Gonzalez and lil Conquistadora cruised in to shed light on the rockin' Body Alive Yoga and Movement Studio in Wailuku, inviting everyone to join them in bringing in the new year with a balanced mind, body and spirit. Visit the links below and check out Rachel on the latest Hana Hou magazine. You go girl!

Rachel is multi-talented on many levels, including tattoo artistry and painting, but she is also helping put together a cool craft and Christmas ornament event next weekend at Wailuku Coffee Company. Learn more about next Friday's event from the flier below.

Sincere songwriter Stef MuZic of O'ahu home (Maui heart) performed her new song, "Too Late," all while Mr. Groovy Shawn Michael and my engineer Garry Forsberg smiled among the beauties. Lil Conquistadora was grooving along to Stef's song and enjoying the Aloha Friday morning excitement.

Catch Stef tonight opening at The Throwdowns Featuring Owaila Unplugged! See flier for Three's Surf Lounge below. :-)

We covered all these great things and so much more, so tune in below to discover more, or check out the pages of this Maui Weekly Website for a collection of community news and events that affect you and your 'ohana.

Thanks for listening Maui and beyond to "The Weekly Dish," a delightful recipe for Maui's community and entertainment news. Keep it real. Aloha!
