FBI: Van search connected to ex-TSA worker arrest

September 11, 2013
Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities are searching a vehicle connected to the arrest of a security screener who allegedly made threats after quitting his job at Los Angeles International Airport.

FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller says Wednesday's search of the minivan in a church parking lot east of Los Angeles in Riverside is part of the investigation into the 29-year-old screener's arrest.

Officers have cleared the church parking lot and a KABC-TV news helicopter is showing a bomb squad robot conducting a search in and around the van.

The screener was arrested late Tuesday in Riverside.

The FBI says a search of his apartment near LAX in Inglewood turned up a note containing unspecified threats that cited the Sept. 11 anniversary.

No harmful materials were found at the airport or the man's apartment.
