The Mick Fleetwood Band headlined two exceptional nights of entertainment on Friday, Sept. 11, at Stella Blues Café and again on Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Royal Lahaina Resort. Mick Fleetwood was back home on Maui to rock the Valley Isle during his break between worldwide tour dates with the illustrious “supergroup,” Fleetwood Mac. Barry Flanagan of HAPA flew over from his home on O‘ahu to join Eric Gilliom, who opened the show. They were joined by Fleetwood, incomparable slide/lead guitarist Rick Vito, Gretchen Rhodes of Island Rumours and others to provide hours of entertainment for an appreciative audience. The competent managing skills of William Reeve Pié, and the cooperation of local musicians and venues, enabled these gigs to be put together quite quickly. The Stella Blues’ show marked the first big blowout at the venue since the passing of its co-founder Ray Ennis. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Hospice Maui, Ennis’ favorite nonprofit. A portion of the proceeds from the Lahaina show will benefit A Makebelieve Company’s new “Save the Arts” program, which strives to inspire and educate our youth through music and the arts. |
