Times Supermarket officially replaced Star Market in two locations on Maui on Tuesday, Nov. 24. Both the Kīhei and Honokōwai stores have been refreshed and merchandise has been upgraded. The store will continue to carry organic items such as produce, dairy and grocery products and will focus on local tastes. Unlike many grocery chains, Times offers bakery items made on-site, and steak plate lunches using its signature Sterling Silver beef from the Midwest.

“Once you taste it, this is the beef you’ll always want to purchase,” said Chad Suzuki, store director of Times in Kīhei. “Sterling Silver beef is in the top 12 percent of all beef in the nation—very high quality at a competitive price.”

Shoppers will also enjoy a reduction on the prices of over 5,000 items. “Our prices are much lower than Star Market’s,” said Suzuki.

Times has grown into the third largest supermarket chain in Hawai‘i. The two stores will employ approximately 150 people, including many former Star employees.

A grand opening is planned for March after more extensive changes are made at the beginning of the year.

Times in Kīhei is located at 1310 South Kīhei Road.; in Honokōwai, 3350 Lower Honoapi‘ilani Highway.
