A Dr. Seuss Christmas and Book Sale at Makawao Library

Makawao Public Library will offer Christmas programs and a book sale in December. Admission is free.

On Saturday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. to noon, “A Dr. Seuss Christmas,” will be presented in conjunction with the Makawao Merchant’s Association’s Annual Christmas Celebration. The event will feature a Dr. Seuss theme—“The Grinch who Stole Christmas”—and include a Seuss-inspired crooked Christmas tree, a giant candy cane and the Grinch’s stolen bounty (bananas and other goodies) in a huge Santa Claus bag. A Hawaiian Santa will make a special visit to the library to listen to your child’s Christmas wishes, offer candy canes and pose for photos.

Be sure to bring your camera for this yuletide event, which is recommended for the whole family.

From 10 a.m. 3 p.m., a “Christmas Book Sale” hosted by the Upcountry Bookbuilders will be held on the front lanai of the library. The book sale will feature gently used books and beautiful beaded jewelry including earrings, necklaces, bracelets and original artwork by Elizabeth Brandon.?Jolie the Clown will present a special Christmas Eve program on Thursday, Dec. 24, from 10 to 11 a.m. The program will feature a dramatic reading of The Grinch who Stole Christmas, Christmas magic tricks, and animal balloon sculptures.?Contact the library as soon as possible if a sign language interpreter or other special accommodation is needed for any of these events.?Makawao Public Library is located at 1159 Makawao Ave. For more information, call (808) 573-8785.
