Mayor Charmaine Tavares (front page) attended the dedication ceremony earlier this month of the 44.8-acre South Maui Community Park near the intersection of Līloa Drive and Halekū‘ai Street in Kīhei. The first phase to be completed is a 19.6-acre parcel, which will include a lighted softball field, a jogging path, a playground, and 113 parking stalls, among other facilities. Goodfellow Brothers Inc. (above) gathered near their grading equipment to begin construction on phase one, which should be completed in 15 months.
