“Revitalizing a wall… Revitalizing a culture.” Joylynn Paman, executive director of ‘Ao‘ao O Na Loko l‘a O Maui (Association of Fishponds of Maui), is leading the effort to rebuild the deteriorating wall of the Ko‘ie‘ie Fish Pond in South Maui. Approximately 50 volunteers turned out on Saturday, Jan. 30, to help rebuild the nearly 500-year-old wall, including Kelson Kihe of Kīhei, who lifts a pohaku into place. The community is invited to volunteer on the second and last Saturday’s of each month from 8 to 11 a.m. Call 875-9059 for more details.
