Rotary Lahaina to Hold “A Sweetheart Affair” Fundraiser

February 9, 2010
Maui Weekly
The 19th Annual Scholarship Fundraiser “A Sweetheart Affair” will be held on Thursday, Feb. 11, 6 to 9 p.m. at Lulu’s Lahaina. This charming event is held to raise funds for the Rotary Club of Lahaina and Lahaina Rotary Youth Foundation, which annually awards over $20,000, in college scholarships to deserving seniors from West Maui, Moloka‘i, and Lana‘i high schools.

Thanks to strong community support, the Rotary Club of Lahaina has given over $500,000 in scholarships since 1988.

Head over to the West Side for an evening of music, fun, fellowship and ono grinds all for a good cause. Enjoy Lulu’s signature püpü and more, including some champagne the moment you walk through the door.

There will be a live and silent auction featuring Grammy Award-winning slack-key sensation George Kahumoku, accompanied by his Lahainaluna HS musicians.

Support from local businesses and individuals so far to make this yearly event possible. Donations for both the live and silent auctions include: Maui Cattle Co., Primo Beach Boy Concert Tickets, Deluxe Accommodation Romance packages with couples massage, Charter Boat (full day) up to 10 people, VIP Napa Valley, CA wine tour/accommodations, Viva Las Vegas Deluxe package, Interactive Chef’s Table with wine for six, lunch with celebrity actor Tom Arnold and more.

The club hopes to exceed last year’s college scholarship goal of $20,000 during this year’s event.

Tickets to attend this year are specially priced at $50 per person ($30 is tax deductible). Make your checks payable to Lahaina Rotary Youth Foundation.

Send your commitment donation forms to Karmen Karady by email (ckarady@mac.com) or call 276-4629. Call President Rick Nava at 856-8202 for more information.
