On Saturday, Jan. 23, members of the Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui donated their time and talents to 9th Life Hawai‘i, a no-kill cat sanctuary and rescue nonprofit organization. Five Rotarians from the “small but mighty” club painted and built homes for some of Maui’s most fortunate abandoned kitties.

9th Life Hawai‘i provides food, shelter, healthcare and love to many of Maui’s abandoned cats. The organization also holds low-cost spay/neuter clinics on a regular basis.

“On Maui, the cat overpopulation is clearly visible,” said 9th Life Hawai‘i Executive Director Phyllis Tavares. “The only humane solution to the problem is to spay and neuter as many cats as we possibly can, as often as we can.”

To adopt a cat and to find out how you can help 9th Life Hawai‘i continue spay/neuter clinics, call 572-3499 or visit the 9th Life Hawai‘i Website at www.9thlifehawaii.org.

Volunteer fundraisers, foster parents, tile installers, carpenters and painters are always needed.

Join Upcountry Rotary Club members for breakfast and informative speakers each Friday morning at 7:30 a.m. at Casanova Italian Restaurant in Makawao, at 1188 Makawao Ave.

To attend a meeting or for more information about the Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui, call President Sarah Ruppenthal at 250-8375.
