Market Fresh Bistro celebrates first anniversary

Their “locavore” attitude helps fulfill their goal of contributing to the growth and success of their vendors by obtaining nearly all of their ingredients from within 100 miles of the restaurant. In fact, during their recent anniversary celebration, the question came up: Exactly how much locally grown food had they used in a year? The answer—21,579.75 pounds of Hawaiian products, with 80 percent from Maui. “Cornucopias of fruit” such as oranges, kaffir limes, grapefruits, tangelos, lemons, pineapple and vegetables like potatoes, eggplant and green beans, the freshest meats, herbs and spices around, nearly all grown right here in Maui soil.
