2010 Fur Ball

An evening at Kennel 54.

Hustle on down to the Maui Humane Society’s (MHS) 2010 Fur Ball on Saturday, March 20, for groovy fundraiser at the Grand Wailea. Can you dig it?

The compassionate folks at MHS continually work hard to serve Maui and provide a variety of services for family pets and strays. Their mission is “building lifelong bonds between people and animals through education, community outreach and the prevention of cruelty.”

One of the worst moments pet owners can experience is when they realize their “best friend” is missing. On top of the countless services the MHS provides, they also continue to play a vital role in “reunions and second chances.” According to their “2008-09 Annual Report,” 930 pets were reunited with their families in the past year thanks to MHS. Far out!

ME-OW! The Maui Humane Society is turning it up at the Grand Wailea for its 2010 Fur Ball on Saturday, March 20. Hustle down to the Kennel 54 Discotheque for the afterparty and “shake your groove thing” all night long to help out our isle’s furry little friends.

So, the Grand Wailea is offering up its fab digs to help raise funds to support efforts like these during MHS’s Fur Ball. The “Disco Infurno: An Evening at Kennel 54” theme offers  plenty of action opportunities throughout the evening.

The Fur Ball begins at 5 p.m. within the Haleakalā Ballroom, as Maui’s very own “Diva Divine” Alaka‘i Paleka guides you through a wonderful evening with dinner, live and silent auctions, entertainment, a disco dance contest and many more surprises.

“We’re really excited about this year’s theme and the opportunity for all community members to get involved,” said Lindsey Nicolas, the development assistant and volunteer coordinator of MHS. “So dust off those platform shoes and boogie on down for a night you’ll never forget!”

You could win some dazzling adornments from Jeré Diamonds & Fine Jewelry’s “Jewelry Disco-tique” that will “leave you breathless,” and over the course of the glamorous evening, guests can take part in raising the $10,000 disco ball. All funds received to raise it will help MHS expand and improve their animal care facilities and receiving kennels for animals surrendered overnight.

And, the beat goes on into the wee hours as Grand Wailea’s Tsunami Night Club is transformed into the Kennel 54 discotheque. Boogie on down to “Maui’s hottest disco,” open for one night only, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Premier Maui DJ Dan Viola keeps the good vibes rolling all night long.

Tickets are available at $150 for entry to the Fur Ball and Kennel 54, and $125 for ball only tickets. There are also tables available for you and nine of your groovy pals. If you are unable to attend the ballroom event, the late-night discotheque is the righteous way for you and your friends to get down at only $25 per person—a great way to support the animals and the agency.

MHS also encourages attendees to take advantage of a fur-tastic deal—the Grand Wailea is offering special room rates for guests attending the 2010 Fur Ball. Why not extend your weekend and staycation?

Call the Grand Wailea directly at 875-1234 or toll-free at (800) 888-6100 and ask for reservation code “GMHS” to book your “fur-cation.”

Come out and cure that disco fever at the 2010 Fur Ball, open to guests 21 and older only. Valid ID is required and must be presented for entry. Disco attire is encouraged—polyester leisure suits are optional.

“It’s guaranteed to be Maui’s hottest event of the year!” said Nicolas.
