In June, the Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui participated in a cleanup and maintenance event at Kalakapua Playground in Ha‘ikū. The club chose the park as its Rotary centennial year project in 2005, supporting construction of the now-popular playground in 2005 with a $10,000 Weinberg grant. This impressive playground is located in the Fourth Marine Division Memorial Park, once a camp for 20,000 U.S. Marines in WWII on the island of Maui. It features unique climbing structures and stunning mosaic murals.
