Fisher, a popular Maui artist and real estate sales professional from Keller Williams Realty, was walking near Mākena Landing earlier this summer when her foot suddenly become numb and stopped working. This strange occurrence turned out to be much more serious than anyone expected—doctors discovered she had suffered a focal seizure and that she had a brain tumor.
Putting aside her bustling everyday schedule of working, living life to the fullest and giving back to the isle she loves so dearly, Fisher realized the seriousness of her situation and flew to O‘ahu to see some specialists.
A biopsy soon confirmed that Fisher has brain cancer.
Queen of Our Hearts. Darbee Fisher was diagnosed with brain cancer earlier this summer. Offer your support on Saturday, Sept. 11, during An Evening of Hope & Healing at Mulligan’s On the Blue beginning at 5:30 p.m. Visit www.rqueenofhearts.com to learn more about this creative and courageous soul.

A creative realtor and graciously active Maui resident, Fisher has “won the hearts of many in the community,” said Gina Duncan, a close friend and Keller Williams realtor. “When you’re in your forties, you still feel young and vibrant—well at least my friends and I do,” said Duncan. “It was so shocking when Darbee told me—it just didn’t feel real and I couldn’t believe this could happen to someone that was so active at our age.”
We all have the opportunity to support Maui’s “Queen of Our Hearts” during “An Evening of Hope & Healing” on Saturday, Sept. 11, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Mulligan’s On the Blue. The event will help support Darbee during this challenging time by raising funds for medical expenses not covered by insurance.
A silent auction begins at 5:30 p.m., with dinner and entertainment to follow around 6 p.m. Enjoy a tasty Irish/Hawaiian buffet, then celebrate to the sounds of the groovy Jimmy Mac and the Kool Kats. The audience can also expect special appearances by Maui folk delight Gail Swanson and local reggae funk outfits An Den and Arise. Attendees should also be prepared for some special celebrity appearances throughout the evening!
Duncan extended her utmost appreciation and respect to Mulligan’s Owner Mike O’Dwyer and Pacific Radio Group Marketing Consultant Jay Mills for making the Sept. 11 event possible. O’Dwyer is always looking for a good reason to hold community gatherings at his Irish digs, and Duncan said he “took the reins” on this event, thrilled to help out in any way. Mills knows Fisher through their participation in Business Network International—the “world’s largest business networking, referrals and word-of-mouth marketing organization”—and he was key in helping with entertainment and many other aspects to make the evening possible.
“I don’t think this event could have happened without Mike and Jay,” said Duncan. “We are extremely grateful to them and the many other caring hands that made this and the recent events for Darbee possible.”
Proceeds from recent fundraising efforts of the “Darbee Fisher, Queen of Our Hearts” campaign—including a successful garage sale in Maui Meadows in July—will be applied by the Keller Williams office to KW Cares for a matching funds grant to assist her courageous and costly battle with cancer. KW Cares is a nonprofit organization created to assist members of the Keller Williams Realty family with expenses due to illness, injures, natural disasters and other issues.
Tickets for An Evening of Hope & Healing for Maui’s dear friend Darbee Fisher are available for $40 per person ($75 for two).
