Barktoberfest

Beers, brats and good times for a great cause.

October 8, 2010
Maui Weekly
Maui Humane Society (MHS) had announced its first-ever event on the West Side of the island. Barktoberfest, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, will be a fabulous evening by the beach and under the stars with great grinds, tasty beer and incredible music!

The Maui Brewing Company will provide four of their special brews for the event. Gourmet German fare will include Stuffed Chicken Cordon Bleu, Kase-Spatzle, Kassler Rippchen, Fire Roasted Apple Strudel, vegetarian options and much more. MHS will also set up a special keiki tent with root beer floats and many fun, animal-related games, crafts and activities.

Barktoberfest emcee Shaggy will keep the night rolling along, accompanied by live music featuring Lisa Owen & the Village Musicians (Hawai‘i’s only oompah band), the Ha‘ikü Hillbillys and the incomparable Jimmy Mac & the Kool Kats!

Although MHS adoptable pets will not be in attendance, this event is all for them. All of the proceeds from Barktoberfest will provide safe and nurturing shelter, food and veterinary care for animals in need, help reunite lost pets with their families and help the orphans find their loving, forever-homes.

Advance tickets are $60 for adults and $30 for children (ages 5–12 years). Keiki 4 years and under are admitted for free. Purchase tickets online at www.MauiHumaneSociety.org'>www.MauiHumaneSociety.org or by calling 877-3680, ext. 34.

Sponsorship levels range from $100 to $5,000 and offer great benefits to those participating. Barktoberfest sponsors (at press time) include the  Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, Maui Brewing Company, Hawai‘i Pet Magazine, Bella Bloom Floral Boutique, Bounty Music, Pacific Radio Group, KAOI Radio Group, The Maui News and Village Audio & Lighting.

For more information on Barktoberfest opportunities, call 877-3680, ext. 32, or visit www.MauiHumaneSociety.org'>www.MauiHumaneSociety.org.

The Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa is offering a special rate on guest rooms for those who would like to stay overnight at the resort. Guests interested in making room reservations should contact Sheraton Maui directly at 661-0031.
