New to Maui, the school is founded to address the need for a balanced education of the head and heart. By emphasizing the cultures of ancient history, children will learn that the world is their family and heritage, according to a press release sent from the school. Students are introduced to the structure of language and learn to express creatively with strong grammatical skills. Classical music, art and drama provide a backdrop for personal and creative expressions. Yoga and dance are also included in the curriculum.
HIS also teaches environmental stewardship. HIS is a “green school” and sustainability practices are part of the curriculum. Students tend a garden and cook with organic fruits and vegetables.
For the first year, enrollment is open all year.
