Community Work Day Program’s (CWD) annual “Get the Drift and Bag It” will be a month-long event this year. This month, CWD will once again partner with the Surfrider Maui Chapter and the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association Visitor Industry Charity Walk to clean up coastal areas throughout the island.
The 1st Annual Kïhei Coastal Cleanup will take place on Saturday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. Volunteers will meet at Kalama Park to clear litter along the shoreline from the area of the park up to the Lä‘ie Wetland. Volunteers will also meet at the Maui Canoe Club in North Kïhei and will clean along the coast up to Kealia Pond.
On Sunday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Central Cleanup volunteers will meet at the Hawaiian Canoe Club at Hoaloha Park fronting Kahului Harbor and will focus efforts in the harbor area and in Waiehu.
