SPCA Maui Supports Spay Day Rally

The public is invited to participate to support Spay Neuter Assistance Program.

Maui Weekly

Members of SPCA Maui invite the public to join them in support of a “No More Homeless Pets Maui” and the end of killing as a means of companion animal control. (Spayed and neutered pets on leashes are welcome to participate).

SPCA SNAP is a unique partnership between SPCA Maui and our island’s veterinarians, providing accessible spayeuter services to Maui’s companion animals regardless of ability to pay. Pets and owners are matched with SPCA Maui partner veterinarians who perform the procedures. SPCA Maui covers the portion of cost of the procedure that the pet’s owner cannot afford.

Xena, a free puppy from a “mistake” litter of 11, was lucky enough to find a loving forever home. Although her new family wanted to make sure she would never have an unwanted litter, the total cost of the sterilization procedure wasn’t affordable at the time. Thanks to SPCA Maui SNAP, Makawao Veterinary Clinic and her caring family, Xena underwent the procedure and is back to her playful energetic self. An estimated 38,000 more pups from “mistake” litters have been prevented.
