“The Heritage Park Peace Pole is a cherished symbol,” said Rotary Club of Kahului President Leslie Mullens. “It represents our commitment as peacemakers and honors Maui’s diverse heritage.”
The pole reads, “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in seven languages, embracing Maui’s multi-cultural community as well as Rotary International’s philosophy of achieving peace through goodwill and understanding among people of the world.
The club originally installed the Peace Pole in the park in 1995 in observance of Rotary International’s 90th Anniversary and the annual World Day of Peace. The club refurbished the pole this January.
