Save money, your health and animals

March 3, 2011
Maui Weekly

It doesn’t take a financial wizard to know that eating a vegan diet is a good idea. Not only are versatile vegan foods—including beans, rice, vegetables, tofu and pasta—relatively inexpensive compared to animal-based products, they’re also much healthier.

If you eat vegan foods—which are naturally cholesterol-free and generally low in fat—you won’t have to shell out extra money for statins, blood pressure pills, or other healthcare costs that result from eating fatty, cholesterol-laden cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches and ice cream sundaes.

Of course, the most important savings of all can’t be put in a bank—each vegan saves more than 100 animals every year! If you want to save money, your health, and animals, visit www.PETA.org for free vegan recipes.
