Maui Tomorrow celebrates Earth Day with a free screening of award-winning film.

April 14, 2011
Maui Weekly

Gasland documents the largest domestic natural gas drilling boom in history. Part vérité travelogue, part exposé, part mystery, part bluegrass banjo meltdown, part showdown, Gasland is a cross-country odyssey with unexpected humor, uncovering a trail of secrets, lies and contamination.

The Huffington Post said, “Gasland just might be the best film of the year. And it might just take you from outrage right into the fire of action.”

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with Joel Katz and his Hawaiian steel guitar. Gasland airs at 7 p.m., to be followed by an interactive discussion of sustainable alternative energy choices for Maui County.

This free event, with donations gratefully accepted, is part of Maui Tomorrow Foundation’s educational campaign for sustainable practices. Maui Tomorrow Foundation is 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated, for over two decades, to responsible planning and sound management of Maui’s natural and cultural resources.
