The Hawai‘i Clean Energy Initiative calls for dramatic increases in energy efficiency in upcoming years. So this is the perfect time to jump into the exciting, fast-growing field of improved energy performance and residential energy audits.
Vitec and the Sustainable Living Institute of Maui (SLIM) will offer Residential Energy Network (RESNET) Certification classes from Monday, May 16, to Saturday, May 21, at UH Maui College, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This class will provide participants with training in energy efficiency and building science and will prepare them to take the nationally recognized RESNET Home Energy Survey Professional (HESP) test.
Participants will gain hands on experience using state-of-the-art building performance equipment and will leave with an understanding of appropriate technologies and strategies for improved energy performance in Hawai‘i. Topics include: building envelope features and performance, mechanical equipment types, renewable energy uses, appliance and lighting characteristics, etc. This course is appropriate for contractors, architects, inspectors, or anyone looking to pursue a career in an emerging industry in Hawaii.
