Farm animals should live on farms

June 9, 2011
Maui Weekly

I’m a super-light sleeper and these racket-roaring roosters gotta go! He does his solo act in the wee hours of the morning into the dawn, along with a chorus of others, screaming for no reason throughout the night and day. What do the owners of this nuisance bird think? Are they well? Not unless it brings them big money at a cockfight?

Even so, raise them on a doggone animal farm where agricultural zoning permits it. It pisses me off because we live in a residential area.

Ten years ago, our Upcountry subdivision banned all such farm animals. Of late, this ban has been largely ignored. So we, the sleepless, remain agitated as well. Yes, there is a need for rules regarding this issue. Farm animals need to live on farms.
