Happy Father’s Day, Dad! I am writing this essay to let you know what a great father you have always been.
You have been there for me through hard times and good times. You always cheer me up when I’m down.
Thank you for being a true father who loves and cares about me.
Memories of being with my father are something I will never forget. I was 5 years old, going to work with my dad. I had my favorite red hat on and I was sticking my head out the car window when my hat flew off my head and into the cane fields. I thought I’d never see it again! My Dad surprised me with it the next day! He had taken the time to go find it for me. I was so happy! Thank you, Daddy!
Born and raised here on Maui, my Dad has always brought me to the ocean—I was a water baby from the start. He taught me how to surf at age 2, always riding on the front of his longboard. I always had a blast with a big smile on my face.
Thanks to my Dad, I have always been ocean-smart and I love the ocean!
Thank you, Daddy, for being in my life.
Happy Fathers Day Dad!
Love, Leilani Zerkle
