July 14, 2011
Maui Weekly

Hawai‘i is the most fossil fuel dependent state due to our dependence on tourism and the military, which comprise 50 percent of our economy.

Tome will address the vision and the mission of the Hawai‘i Clean Energy Initiative, which leads the way in relieving our dependence on oil by setting goals and a roadmap to achieve 70 percent clean energy by 2030 with 30 percent from efficiency measures and 40 percent coming from locally generated renewable sources.

The Rotary club meets regularly from 8 to 9 a.m. at Casanova Italian Restaurant & Deli, 1188 Makawao Ave., in Makawao.

An optional breakfast is offered for $13.
