9th Life mahalo

August 4, 2011
Maui Weekly

9th Life Hawai‘i has now sterilized over 3,600 cats with the help of a lot of volunteers. We would like to thank each and every volunteer but are somewhat limited by space and my faulty memory. If I left you out it was not intentional. At our larger clinics, we can have as many as 30 to 40 volunteers.

We are grateful for our volunteers who do an admirable job of running these clinics under the direction of Doris Pompillio, fondly known as “The General.” Special mention of thanks to tattooists Deb Bauer, Cynthia Bocoboc and Lori Oura, vet techs Iris Malkin, Lori Oura and Kristin Schowe, and transporters Melody Law, Eva Opel, Sue Liscombe and Lynn Solu of Kīhei Rent a Car, who also supplies our pickup van.

Mahalo to Peg Keller, Mary Artese and Susan Homer for keeping our crew well-fed and Liz Radcliff and Sue Young and others who cared for the kitties post-op.

There are many people who helped the vet techs and also recover the kitties post-surgery, but we have run out of space.

Mahalo to all of you—especially our vets. Wish there were more of you.

Phyllis Tavares
