To help our youth increase their interest and education of our “growing world,” the third annual Maui Youth Gardening Workshop will offer a great group of presenters who will offer their expertise on topics such as: the latest trends in school gardening programs; the challenges and opportunities facing first-time school garden leaders; elements of successful school gardening programs; connecting gardening curriculum to the school curriculum; composting; aquaponics; health and nutrition curriculum; permaculture; and astronomy in relation to school gardens.
The workshop will be held on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Montessori School of Maui in Makawao from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will also feature school garden information booths and a panel-and-poster session with various organizations involved in youth and school gardening programs on the Valley Isle.
This workshops, which are open to all individuals, groups, organizations, churches, volunteers and schools involved with youth gardening, will offer a great opportunity to network with other groups involved in the youth gardening movement on Maui

The Maui Youth Gardening Workshop on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Montessori School of Maui in Makawao is open to all individuals, groups, organizations, churches, volunteers and schools involved with youth gardening, and will offer a great opportunity to network with other groups involved in the youth gardening movement on Maui. South Maui Sustainability introduced garden fun and flavors to Kīhei Elementary students (above) through a school garden last year, which has inspired many of the kids to start their own at home.
