Leaping headfirst into the marvels and madness of talk radio over the last year has been a completely new adventure though—a bold, beautiful and challenging one. You have one shot to stay focused and correctly relay information, while also maintaining a degree of wit. I’m proud to serve up all of this and more with my groovy musical brother, Shawn Michael, on “The Weekly Dish” radio show each and every Friday morning on KAOI 1110AM/96.7FM.

Rise and shine each Aloha Friday from 7:05 to 8 a.m. for colorful commentary and intriguing reports ranging from world affairs that scare to local events that care. Thanks to the Maui Weekly, there’s plenty of hot news and cool community views to share, and because of paper’s loyal support, “The Weekly Dish’s” fantastic voyage continues. We delight in the arts, community camaraderie, insightful opinions and positive journalism—provided by the Maui Weekly since 1986.

The show also offers small businesses a unique opportunity to reach consumers with fun, live segments in which owners and affiliates “keep it real” and personally appeal to listeners. Since commencing in August 2010, outstanding ‘ohana businesses such as 808 Deli, Classic Cruisers, Stella Blues and Mulligan’s On The Blue continue to benefit from the perks and pleasures of “The Weekly Dish,” as well as take advantage of Maui Weekly’s special print options.

Maui’s eclectic music collectives provide ample ammo during “Maui Music Notes.” The show has welcomed some of Hawai‘i’s finest players for live interviews and performances.

I extend endless gratitude to our listeners for allowing us to jumpstart their weekends. A big mahalo to Shawn for his clever charisma and to my wonderful engineer, Garry Forsberg, for keeping us alive at sunrise, as well as arts bon-vi-vant Paul Janes-Brown for gracing us with his fabulous “Let"s Talk More... ” segments.

Enjoy “The Weekly Dish”—a delightful recipe for Maui’s community and entertainment news, served every Friday morning on KAOI 1110AM/96.7FM. Dig in, and appreciate the verve our beautiful island and its individuals offer.
